Sunday and a Blast from the Past
Busy weekend but I got in a great photo session at Longwood Gardens this morning. The iris are just about ready to bloom in number. The tulips are finished. Saw plenty of ladybugs and took some nice macros. Photoblogged one of the nicer ladybugs on my photoblog tonight.
Yesterday was something else. My uncle Ray turned 90 and there was a big turn out of kin. My parents are east coast born and raised while my brother and I were born in Texas, sister in Oklahoma. I spent summers up here and I had not seen many of the cousins since I was a child. Old building, little widows and a cloudy day meant I used the flash often. I took it easy on the camera as I'm not too sure of the relatives tolerance with a constant shutterbug. Thankfully, I was not the only one shooting. Big event and I got a few nice photos of it. Print generation. Had fun.
I'm going to buy some camera gear. I'd like to start using my diopters again for macros so I need to get the 52mm mount. I'm just about sold on a teleconverter too. I've a long lens already but with my birds I'm cropping. 1.7x should get me right in sweet range. Looking like the birds are my new lizards. As a subject, they are a plentiful challenge.
Today I received a comment on one of my Flickr photos asking me to contribute shots to the Houston Museum of Narural Science group. Nice to see shots of my favorite museum. I'm going to add and follow the group. I need to go into the city to see if I can form the same kinda photo bond with a museum as I had in Houston. I've been exploring here so much and I've barely scratched the surface.
I also got a request to use/publish a photo of mine! Happy about that and once some details are settled I'll let you know. Not the first time I've been published but this one is a notch more special than the others! Very cool and fun project.
Anyhow, great weekend and have a great week ahead.
P.S. - Happy Mothers Day :-)

I love the Ladybug! I have truly missed your photos, Stephen. It will take me a while to catch up, but I will be here often now that I get the feed. Good luck on that special photo publishing. Blessings, Penny
