Chrysalis Spotting

Three Chrysalis
Now that I some sunshine to work with I thought I'd revisit the chrysalis. Charles,of Am I Thing That, commented the that the third one was hard to spot in the earlier photo. They are hard to spot. This morning I found a new chrysalis. I've been checking the others every day and the new one escaped even my keen eyes until this morning. Missed it completely.

Below is the keymap to spotting chrysalis above. At the top is the chrysalis that formed on February 16th. Right next to it is the empty chrysalis husk from the monarch that emerged on January 12th. In the middle is the chrysalis that is buried deep in the heart of the ornamental grass. To the left and below is the chrysalis that I found this morning.

Between the two photos, you get a sense of how hard these things are to see. A milkweed patch is next to this clump of ornamental grass. I'm on chrysalis watch times three! First two weeks of March is my guess for all of them to have emerged. Maybe one this week.

I really like how you made the 'key' to help find them. That was cool. I know I don't comment enough, but know that this is one of my daily stops. Your photos always keep me coming back!

Yes, you are amazing. I would never have seen the four of them. Such a cool way to highlight the four Chrysalis's.... Thanks for helping us see them also for enlarging them!
